A Bledsoe County, Tennessee, man is behind bars on a $1 million bond after being charged in the slaying of a woman in neighboring White County, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Pikeville resident Clayton Matthew Watson, 38, is being held in White County, Tennessee, on a $1 million bond on a charge of first-degree murder stemming from the slaying of 24-year-old Spencer resident Dara Jade Baker, TBI spokeswoman Susan Niland said Monday in an emailed statement.
Watson was charged Monday.

TBI agents began investigating a homicide reported in White County shortly after 8 a.m. Monday, Niland said. After responding to a 911 call to a residence on Cherry Road, law enforcement officers found Butler dead inside. During the course of the ensuing investigation, agents identified Watson as the individual they believe was responsible for Butler's death.

TBI agents, White County Sheriff's Office deputies and the 13th Judicial District Attorney General's Office took Watson into custody and charged him with one count of murder and booked him into the White County Jail, Niland said. The 13th Judicial District includes Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Overton, Pickett, Putnam and White counties.
The TBI did not provide further details.
