In its widespread success, ABC's "Abbott Elementary" has reminded many Americans of the everyday efforts, sacrifices and challenges faced by schoolteachers. The show exemplifies how most American educators must take on several roles for their students, including parents, mentors, therapists and sometimes financial supporters. With that in mind, 2023 Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up May 8-12.
