Cleveland City Schools in Bradley County, Tennessee, canceled classes Thursday after receiving emails overnight at multiple schools that could be interpreted as threats, according to a statement released early Thursday by the district.
"The Cleveland Police Department is actively investigating, and we intend to resume regular operations on Friday," school officials said in an emailed statement. "We apologize for this last-minute decision, but the safety of our students and staff must be a top priority."
All extracurricular activities scheduled for Thursday are also postponed, officials said.
